Buying a franchise may become an exciting new venture. However, there are both advantages and disadvantages when considering a franchise business opportunity.
Advantages: A franchise business opportunity is great because it is at a much lower risk than starting a business all on your own. A franchise business opportunity allows you to follow a model that is already set in stone. A small business franchise is great for the procedural kind of person who can follow a set of rules that promise success. Also, a franchise business opportunity most often comes with some form of franchise consulting or support from people that are heads of the franchise. Taking advantage of top franchise opportunities heightens your chances of being successful, especially if the top franchise opportunity is a distinct brand (i.e. McDonalds)
Disadvantages: A franchise is certainly not for the person who wants to follow a set of already established rules. Having to model a success blueprint isn't always for everyone. This also means that you'll have to follow the exact marketing tactics of a franchise business opportunity with no room for innovation and creativity. Also, a person who owns a franchise may have a support system; however, this support system may end up being a set of people who you have to report to. Just because you own a franchise doesn't make you your own complete boss.
